The Klondike Gold Rush is an exciting team building, decision making and time management simulation that is suitable for employees at all organization levels. Teams of prospectors, with their outfits of mules and supplies set out from Dawson to the gold fields along a path of their choice. The routes are fraught with peril from bear attacks, flash floods, avalanches and of course, bandits. Teams must develop strategies aimed at mining as much gold as possible and return to Dawson within a given time period. The teams must plan upfront for the trip by buying resources, getting information and assessing the risk.
A series of realistic situations confront the team testing their skills and abilities in planning, developing objectives, managing resources, strategize, record keeping, ongoing analysis of the changing environment and dealing with conflict, all under the pressures of a restricted timeframe.
As part of the program a debriefing takes place where "the experience" is discussed and teams exchange what they have learned. Setting goals, assessing risk, know when to plan and when to act, synergy, the power of vision and commitment to a common focus, and team excitement are a few of the common learning points.
